PopUp Painting’s artist of the week this week is the brilliant contemporary artist, David Hockney.
David Hockney, born in Bradford, is an English painter, printmaker, photographer and stage designer. Perhaps the most popular and versatile British artist of the 20th century.
Hockney moved to Los Angeles in 1966. The influence of LA’s vibrant colours and light is evident in some of his most well-known works such as A Bigger Splash.
Throughout his career, Hockney has experimented with painting, photography, mixed media and collage. In recent years he has explored the marriage of art and technology.
We will be featuring Hockney’s work all week on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Got a painting we missed? Send us a tweet or a comment and we’ll share it!
Feeling inspired by Hockney? Come and give some painting a go!
