July is here! This means, Wimbledon, Euros finals and hopefully some sun! Read on to find out the best events going on this July in London, Birmingham, Manchester and York. All our listed events are run by small businesses or celebrate diversity!

London

Saturday 3rd July – Paint London, London Art Bar, Holborn

Try your hand at painting in London’s new venue – yes London Art Bar is now the official home of PopUp Painting. The venue will have an array of events going on, such as their paint nights, STEAM nights and fundraiser quizzes. Spend this evening, sipping wine and painting the London Skyline. Thursday 8th July – Word of Mouth, CLF Art Lounge, Peckham

Word Of Mouth (Live) will be telling stories through the lens of London’s leading spoken word artists. Integrating live performances with online videos to tell a collective story about British culture, free entry at The CLF Art Lounge & Roof Garden.

Thursday 15th July – Fontaine’s After Dark, Fontaine’s Bar, Stoke Newington

Every Thursday evening there is live music from 8pm at Fontaine’s Bar. For just £3 you can enjoy music in their Art Deco bar. On Thursday 15th July you will be transported back to the golden age as Madeleine Rose and her band take you on a swinging journey back in time.

Friday 23rd July – Playground feat United Kingdolls, Clapham Grand, Clapham

Clapham Grand is back with their Friday club nights with the best music, performers and klubkids on the scene! Playground will play host to legendary DJ’s, Drag Queens & Dancers every Friday Night. Advanced tickets £10.

Birmingham

All Month – A Very Special Place: Ikon in the 1990s, Ikon Gallery, B1 2HS

This exhibition features 40 artists from the gallery’s 1990s programme. It comprises work by those who featured in exhibitions at Ikon during the 1990s, expect a range of different artworks and concepts. Open Tuesday – Sunday 10am – 5pm, free entry.

2nd July – Neville Staple from The Specials, Midlands Art Centre, B12 9QH

Neville Staple from the iconic ska band, The Specials will be performing at Midlands Art Centre. Get your skanking shoes on! Tickets from £10, book in advance here.

15th July – Ru Paul’s Drag Race Quiz, The Old Crown, B12 0LD

The popular Ru Paul Quiz is back at The Old Crown. The night will consist of iconic lip sync battles, maxi challenges, untuck dramas & more from the US and UK versions of the show. £5 per person

Manchester

Thursday 1st July – First Thursday Comedy, The Met, BL9 0BW

Hilarious comedy at The Met on the First Thursday of every month. Tickets £5 -£10 at The Met.

Saturday 3rd July, How I Hacked my Way into Space, HOME, M15 4FN

An amusing and moving storytelling show about one man’s mission to hack his way into space. Tickets £7 from here.

14th July – 31st July – Looney Tunes Art Trail, Various Locations

The playful world of Looney Tunes has taken to the streets of Manchester, with a colourful, family friendly walking tour of the iconic characters popping up around the city. Featuring eleven of the studio’s most beloved characters, from Bugs Bunny to Daffy Duck, Speedy Gonzales to Tasmanian Devil, the exploratory street art will welcome people back to the city post lockdown. View the map here.

York and Leeds

Sunday 18th July – Paint Van Gogh, Manahatta York, YO1 8AX

PopUp Painting is back in York. This evening will be themed around Van Gogh‘s Sunflowers painting. Try your hand at something new, no previous painting experience needed. Tickets £29.99 from here.

25th July – Raiders Of The Lost Ark in Concert, Millennium Square, LS1 1UR

Watch Indiana Jones’ Raiders of the Lock Ark with John Williams’ epic score performed live to picture in HD on the big screen by the Orchestra of Opera North. Tickets from £21.50 from here. 

29th July – Sara Pascoe: Work In Progress, The Wardrobe, LS9 8AH
