[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]PopUp Painting’s ‘artist of the week’ is artist and PopUp Painting team member Charlie Kirkam.
Charlie Kirkham works in a variety of medium including watercolours, oils, pencil, ink, collage, digital imaging and ceramics. The artist trained at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design and the Heatherley School of Fine Art (2015).
Kirkham often explores myths and storytelling in her practice. The artist herself notes:
‘I like tell stories with my work. When I create a piece I think about adding in details which will make the viewer return again and again to discover more.’
The artist is also influenced by time she spent working in a tattoo parlour, which reignited her interest in drawing and ink work.
The artist has exhibited her work all across the UK, with some recent accolades including creating murals for the Coventry Mysteries Festival and Open Space UK. Charlie Kirkham is a member of The Drawing Society (SGFA) and teaches at Merton Adult Education, Camp Hill Early Years and The Independent Art School.
The artist is also PopUp Painting’s Birmingham Patch Manager. Check out our calendar to see our upcoming events in Birmingham!
We will be featuring Charlie Kirkham’s work all week on our Facebook and Twitter pages, but in the meantime here is a selection of our favourite works by the artist:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1478035350808-a4493b4d-8237-0″ include=”14361,14362,14363,14364,14365,14366,14367,14368,14369,14370,14371,14372″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
