PopUp Painting events are led by local artists who are experts not just in their trade, but in entertainment and organisational development. In addition, they are supported by a team with expertise in management, innovation and training. PopUp Painting’s team includes 14 artist, but today we have interviewed Rebecca Hunter one of the first team members to join PopUp Painting.
1 – Introduce Yourself
I’m Rebecca Hunter an artist and illustrator. My works range from expressive oil paintings to controlled architecture studies.
2 – What materials/process do you use, to create your art?
I paint places I’ve been to and I am familiar with. I collect images of my subject matter through on site sketches and photographs, then when I’m at my studio I transform these into finished pieces of work. I add an element of imagination to my final pieces as well.
For my cityscape drawings I use ink and quill, whereas with my paintings I use oil paint and tend to use my hands instead of brushes.
3 – If you could become one of your characters/works of art, which would you chose and why?
There’s a painting I’ve done called Above London, it’s a very atmospheric ink painting of London at night and the stars above. It makes me feel very calm, I’d say that painting.
4 – What is/was your favourite piece completed so far?
Same as above – it seems to be unique to my style and has a nice balance of structure and expression.
5 – If you could pop up and paint anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
India – the colours and energy would be amazing to capture again!
6 – Just for fun! Invisibility power or power to move things with your mind?
Definitely to be invisible, I’m very nosy!
